DEVELOPING A CURRICULM for 2012
The New DfE has confirmed an extra INSET DAY for all Primary schools teaching Key Stages 1 and 2. The day has been given to schools to adapt the present curriculum to their individual needs between now and 2012.
A WHOLE STAFF INSET DAY – This is a day planned to help you develop a curriculum for the next two years. During the day we will:
- Provide an overview of recent developments and review the range of curriculum options open to schools
- Set out the statutory powers that headteachers and governing bodies have in relation to the curriculum
- Clarify the options that schools have to modify the current National Curriculum
The day will provide teachers with simple models for designing and planning an exciting, enjoyable and joined-up curriculum. We will set out:
- Strategies and examples for constructing a ‘whole school’ curriculum
- Simple formats for teachers’ long, medium and short-term planning
- A range of topics themes and centres for learning.
- A simple, effective strategy for Assessing Pupils’ Progress (APP)
- Easy to use formats for recording and assessment to save time and reduce work load
