This is to help schools prepare for the inspection of their special educational needs provision. Tricia Murphy will use her excellent knowledge and extensive background in SEN to ensure that Headteachers, senior leaders and SENCOs are well prepared for the inspection of SEN. She will ‘unpick’ the different types of legislation, regulation and guidance so that schools are clear about what they are required to have in place for the inspection of their SEN provision. In addition, she will identify the essential deadlines and timescales that schools need to be aware of.

- Schools’ statutory responsibilities for SEN
- Ofsted judgements for SEN
- Ofsted’s ‘Limiting’ judgements and SEN
- Disability and Discrimination Act requirements for inspection
- The Single Equality Bill and inspection requirements
- The SEN Information Act and inspection
- SSNB Pay and Conditions Framework and its implications for Inspection
- The Lamb Inquiry.
Tricia will provide a step by step guide to the statutory requirements and explain to schools what they need to do to ensure they are meeting them. She will set out simple strategies for implementation across the school.
