SAFEGUARDING and OFSTED INSPECTIONS
What is expected of schools?
The latest round of Ofsted Inspections is giving the highest priority to checking the safeguarding policies, procedures and arrangements that schools need to have in place.
This is a day that will clarify things for headteachers. We will review the guidance that has been given to schools and set out how schools can respond in a sensible manner to ensure that children in their care are kept safe and free from harm. We will help headteachers apply
common sense in what can be a minefield of red tape.
The day will cover the following:
- The statutory guidance on making arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children under Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 – DCSF 2007
- Safeguarding Children 2008 – OFSTED
- Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education – DCSF 2006
- Safeguarding the young and vulnerable DCSF 2008
- The LEGAL responsibilities of schools – using case law examples
We will look at the policies and documents that schools need to have in place to underpin their safeguarding procedures.
- Schools will be given examples of key safeguarding policies
